– lamp with a vase-like shape (I found mine at a local thrift store for $5) – sandpaper – primer – plaster of paris – paintbrush – black acrylic paint – brown acrylic paint
Lightly sand the surface of the lamp to roughen it up. This will give the primer something to adhere to. Wipe with a damp cloth and allow it to fully dry.
1
Cover the electrical parts with a plastic bag and painters tape. Use spray primer to prime the lamp. Allow it to fully dry.
2
Mix 3:1 plaster of paris powder to water. Cover the whole surface of the lamp by using gloves. After 1 hour, lightly sand the surface to smooth it out.
3
Start with black. Then, layer watered-down brown over the black, wiping it off immediately.
