Ah, Micah’s nursery. I had so much fun putting it together. My goal was to use a lot of things that we had on hand. I’ll fill you in on the source list when I can, but a lot of the things we used were old (as in, things from our childhood) or handmade.
Oh, how I love handmade things.
And I love old stuff. It is so fun seeing things that were in my room when I was growing up in Micah’s room now.
That giraffe. I love that guy. That nook was made for him. It is from Melissa and Doug.
The paint color on the wall is Benjamin Moore’s Pelican Gray in Eggshell. I used BM’s Natura line since it is odorless and no VOCs.
The sheepskin was mine growing up. My grandpa gave it to me and it will always be one of my favorite things. I’m so happy Micah can get some use out of it now.
The ottoman is from Target. I got the chair from Marshalls so sorry, no link for that.
The bunting was made from leftover fabric from old projects (the blue fabric was leftover from the crib skirt).
And Hobbes? My friend made him…yes MADE him. As in, she crocheted him. I have to admit, I didn’t know much about Calvin and Hobbes before she gave Micah the Hobbes doll. But along with Hobbes, she gave us a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon book. And I’m a total fan now.
Those shelves were sitting in our attic for awhile. So I painted them a teal I had on hand so they would match each other.
That elephant. He is another one of my mom’s handiwork. It’s a 3d wall quilt. All of those colors are individual pieces of fabric. Amazing.
My grandmother was a 1st grade teacher and these were her flash cards she used to teach. I absolutely love them (so does Micah…he is mesmerized by them!)
We named Micah after Jon’s favorite verse: Micah 6:8. So I wanted to incorporate that into the nursery somehow, so I came up with this wall hanging.
I started by staining the boards, tracing the letters, then painting around them. I dry brushed a little white over the blue to give it a vintage look.
This dresser was one of my first projects. The big star was from a garage sale and the two smaller ones we have had forever…I believe they are from Hobby Lobby? The M is for sure from Hobby Lobby.
The basket holds my raggedy old baby blanket and also my first attempt at making a quilt while I was learning to sew.
When Micah was born, Jon’s grandparents gave Micah two of their son’s (Micah’s grandpa) toys from when he was growing up. Another favorite!
These absolutely amazing watercolors are made by my cousin. She has completed the whole alphabet and the set is truly a gorgeous work of art.
We are so blessed to have so many talented friends and family that made Micah gifts. They made his nursery so much more special!
